MPS - Microcurrent Point Stimulation (Dolphin Neurostim)
Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) combines the principles of acupuncture and modern neurology with direct current stimulation. MPS therapy is used to release abnormal muscle tension and gripping tissue patterns so that proper motor control and movement can be re-established.
MPS neuropathic therapy is a hybrid modality used in the treatment of neuro-myofascial pain. In its most basic form, MPS therapy applies brief, staged, concentrated stimulation to points relating to different therapeutic systems. Through a series of systematic and reproducible protocols, the treatment of root causes of soft tissue pain can be completed with a high degree of accuracy.
For each condition, the therapist applies concentrated direct current (DC) micro-stimulation to points that isolate specific nerves, muscles and tissues involved with your pain or injury. Applied by a non-invasive point stimulator, MPS current produces a low frequency acupuncture-like response that has been shown to:
- Release muscle tension and joint restriction
- Modulate Autonomic Nervous System and Decrease Sympathetic Up-regulation
- Balance functional asymmetries seen during activities
- Re-polarize and release scar tissue
- Decrease pain and tissue sensitivity
- Release endorphins producing general relaxation and natural pain relief
- Decrease abnormal muscle tone and tension
- Increase re-innervation of neural pathways
MPS structurally/mechanically and manually realigns the body and then inspects for paraspinal tissue changes associated with spinal nerve root impingement. Dermatomes, meridians, trigger, motor, and acupuncture points, relating the patient’s injury/pain, are then integrated into step-by-step protocols in order to determine and eliminate root causes of a patient’s pain condition.
MPS has been a remarkable success in the fight against chronic pain. This therapy can be individualized to any patient's needs and applied non-invasively as part of your bodywork session.
MPS Therapy has proved successful in the treatment of back and neck pain, whiplash, TMJ, fibromyalgia, neuropathies, migraines, headaches, joint pain, sports injuries, carpal tunnel, post operative radiculopathy, neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder and shoulder pain, tennis elbow and many other neuro-myofascial pain syndromes.
MPS protocol with manual scar release has produced miraculous results!
The images below show a wound scar BEFORE and AFTER only 3 scar release treatments. In the BEFORE image, the tissue had an indentation of approximately 1/4 inch and was very painful and sensitive to touch. In the AFTER photo, the scar is level with the surrounding tissue and pain free!
